Rooted in Weiting Wei's experience as a mother and caregiver, daily acts of care and domestic labor shape both identity and artistic process. Working with polymer clay, the artist draws on methods that echo household tasks, developing an intimate understanding of material through repetition, touch, and muscle memory. Familiar kitchen tools become extensions of the hand, creating a tactile dialogue between form and process.
Themes of pregnancy, childhood, and motherhood appear throughout her work, interwoven with memories and traditions from the Weiting's early life. These personal narratives inform sculptures that move between the domestic and the symbolic.
Inspired by the growth states of organisms found in nature, Weiting creates abstract, dynamic forms that reflect cycles of transformation and resilience. From a feminine perspective, the work explores personal growth and evolution, inviting viewers to consider their own experiences of change, development, and self-discovery.
