6-ft. gallery project

The 6-ft. gallery project is a collaboration between Dublin Arts Council and the Dublin Convention & Visitors Bureau, designed to showcase Dublin’s resident artists while providing physical distancing guidance during the 2020 pandemic. Four local artists are engaged in the temporary public art project, which will be on view from mid-August through Labor Day 2020 throughout downtown Dublin. Participating Artists

PAT CARBONE
Pat Carbone grew up in Toledo, Ohio and spent Saturday mornings attending children’s art classes at The Toledo Museum of Art. These experiences inspired her, and she received a degree in art education from the University of Toledo. After teaching art for more than 30 years in Athens, Ohio, Pat retired and moved to Dublin, Ohio in 2012. It was here that she revisited her love of oil painting. Meeting and working with other artists in the Columbus area has enhanced her artistic passion. Capturing landscapes from her travels on canvas is especially rewarding. In addition to painting, Pat is a docent at the Columbus Museum of Art and leads tours for children visiting from schools around Ohio. Learn more:  https://www.patcarboneart.com

DAVID ENGLER
David Engler is a retired healthcare executive, now working as an artist in Dublin, Ohio. He works exclusively in pastels, creating both landscapes and still life paintings. The artist hopes to bring a sense of truth and beauty to each of his paintings, which have been described as peaceful. According to David, “There is something pure about a painting created by an artist on a sanded surface with a stick of pure pigment in their hands.” David’s work has been recently been juried into the Columbus Museum of Art’s “Evening with Art” exhibition. SIDNEY FINNERAN
Edgar Degas states, “Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.” Sidney Finneran has always loved this quote because the subject, the medium and the color used is the artist’s way of communicating and sharing their vision with others — creating a new reality and hoping it connects with the individual. Sidney is inspired by selecting subjects to paint which she believes will connect with the viewer.  Sidney graduated from Marshall University and taught art for 24 years in both Columbus and Dublin schools. She is a member of Dublin Area Art League and served as the organization’s secretary and chair of the scholarship committee. She is a docent at the Columbus Museum of Art. DAWN PETRILL
Dawn Petrill often refers to her work as “nature intensified.” She strives to reveal the undercurrent of the natural world — not just what it looks like, but its essence. To fully engage with her work, the viewer will shift their focus between color and the layers of mixed media, such as feathers, strings, shells and netting found in her paintings. The artist is inspired by the endless possibilities to explore these shifting interpretations of life and nature. Dawn is a 1995 graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art and received a Masters of Arts and Liberal Studies from Wesleyan University in 2001.  She began her artistic career as an illustrator, but transitioned to become a fine artist through her business, Art At Dawn LLC.  Dawn exhibits her work both locally and throughout the United States. She also teaches art to Alzheimer’s patients, instructs children and adults in private art lessons and leads painting parties. Dawn works out of her home studio in Dublin, Ohio where she lives with her husband, three children, and rescue pup.
