Global Water Dances Dublin

Dublin-based Columbus Modern (CoMo) Dance Company will facilitate Global Water Dances with a free performance in the Riverside Crossing Park in Dublin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 17. Participants will join a communities in 180 worldwide locations in this international initiative to promote water preservation. The performance will be a restaging of modern dance pioneer Doris Humphrey’s 1928 Water Study, a groundbreaking piece for its time. The choreography is performed with breath and silence as the ensemble brings visuals of the ocean’s rolling or crashing waves to life. CoMo Company dancers Faith Smith and Laura Puscas, joined by guest choreographer Francine Butler, will work with members of the community to facilitate the presentation of this historic work.

Call for Entries – Emerging 2024 Student Art Exhibition

Entries are now open for Emerging 2024 and will close on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 5 p.m. Emerging is an annual exhibition at Dublin Arts Council (DAC) celebrating the next generation of artists.

Emerging 2024 Student Exhibition

Emerging 2024 is a juried exhibition that nurtures the next generation of artists by helping students gain valuable hands-on experience learning how to present their work as a professional artist. Hands-on experience includes working with a professional curator, framing and finishing techniques, insights into pricing their artwork and participating in a gallery reception. Best of Show and technical merit awards are given in six age categories. Participating in the "Emerging 2024" exhibition helps students develop their artistic skills and equips them with practical knowledge while fostering a sense of support in the local community. The exhibition will be on view in the Dublin Arts Council gallery, 7125 Riverside Dr., free of charge, from January 13 through February 29, 2024. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the second Saturday of each month from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
