Dublin Arts Council’s 21st annual exhibition of student artwork returns with artwork from students in grades K-12 in the Dublin City Schools (DCS) attendance area, participants in the DCS PATHS post-secondary program and those who have participated in a Dublin Arts Council program. The juried exhibition includes 111 artworks from 74 artists. Best of Show, Technical Skill and Best use of Medium honors are awarded, providing students with the opportunity to experience a professional gallery exhibition. Students may sell their artwork if they choose to do so. The exhibition is available both in-person and online.

An opening reception for the artists and their families will be held on Saturday, Jan. 14 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Dublin Arts Council.
The Dublin Arts Council gallery is on the main level of the Dublin Arts Center, 7125 Riverside Dr., in Dublin, Ohio. Gallery hours are Tuesday – Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month. Admission and on-site parking are free of charge. “This is a revealing portrait of royals in the spirit of Goya and Velazquez. The regal reds and powerful pink of this painting make their station clear; the careful color selection for this composition may seem simple but it’s quite complete. And we wonder about an important third figure included here; a royal family pet perhaps?”

“The simplicity of this form beautifully captures the elegant gesture of a majestic Swan. And as Robert Smithson knew very well, a spiritual spiral is a magical element common to indigenous objects from around the world. And, this minimal sculpture certainly achieves a great scale, a stature way beyond its quite humble size.”

“This is rich deep color variation in the spirit of German Expressionists like Kandinsky and Kirchner, and these electric colors give us truly an exciting new view of familiar vegetation. This brilliant landscape explodes with amazing colors, perhaps every color in a rainbow. And, this powerful painting certainly takes us to an amazing place.”

“Simple shapes and bold color selection bring these morning hills to life; the simple elegance of a painting by Milton Avery is suggested. This composition has only eight shapes, and limited but rich color combinations; the color pallet includes several blues, and a complimentary orange sun. And, this is certainly another magical place to remember.”

Best of Show awards were selected by juror Benjamin Knepper.
Knepper’s artwork has been featured in solo and group exhibitions throughout Ohio and 14 other states including New York, Tennessee, Maine, Texas, Louisiana, Connecticut and California. Knepper served as Exhibition Designer/Preparator for the Wexner Center for the Arts for more than 20 years, and currently works as Exhibition Consultant/Curator for Dublin Arts Council. He earned a Bachelor and Master of Fine Arts from The Ohio State University.
Honorable Mention awards were selected by Dublin Arts Council staff.
