Davis and Dassai: Drawn Comics features original drawings from two of the most unusual graphic creations in central Ohio: Left Handed Sophie and The Columbusonian. Phonzie Davis’s Left Handed Sophie is a super-heroine whose adventures unfold on a blog and Facebook page, as well as through performances. Davis morphs comic-book traditions into contemporary mythology available via multimedia and social media. Julian Dassai’s The Columbusonian has been a regular feature in 614 Magazine since 2012. In each single-page issue of The Columbusonian, Dassai captures the activities and ideas of an intriguing area resident, whether prominent or unknown. Drawn Comics examines the processes by which the artists bring their images to life for readers and viewers.
A free public reception will be held Tuesday, April 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dublin Arts Council, 7125 Riverside Dr., in Dublin. Regular gallery hours: Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Wednesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through June 3, 2016. Exhibition and public reception are free of charge.
