Connections between an art teacher and a student are always compelling. Thinking wishfully, perhaps, one expects to find paths of influence and continuity — a poetic dialogue between the master and the apprentice. More often than not, however, overt connections are invisible. After all, the best teachers lead students along a path of self-discovery and individual soul-searching.
